Doreen Irungu is the Founder & Chief Executive of Ustawi Afrika, a social enterprise transforming Africa’s food systems by empowering rural women and equipping youth with entrepreneurship and innovation skills to lead in climate-smart, resilient, and sustainable agriculture.

Through the Ustawi School for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, implemented in partnership with UNESCO, she has trained over 600 youth across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritius, and Seychelles in entrepreneurship, renewable energy, regenerative agriculture, and water solutions. On the other arm, Ustawi empowers rural women through 12 Farmers Hubs and 6 Aggregation Centres, reaching over 24,000 smallholder farmers in semi-arid rural communities with agro-inputs, training, and market linkages that strengthen livelihoods and build climate-resilient food systems.

A World Food Prize 2024 Top Pioneer, she champions inclusive and sustainable innovation across Africa.
