Gideon Olanrewaju is a Nigerian Educational Development practitioner and the Founder of DigiLearns – an Education Technology startup that allows learning on a mobile phone via SMS and USSD. DigiLearns drives equitable educational opportunities and sustainable learning outcomes for millions of disadvantaged Nigerian children, leveraging innovation, collaboration and technology.
He also serves as the Chief Executive Director of Aid for Rural Education Access Initiative (AREAi), a community-based, non-profit organisation. He founded AREAi in 2014 which has grown across the nation, impacting over 25,047 beneficiaries in 33 communities across 15 states, through quality alternative formal and non-formal educational programmes. They focus on digital literacy, foundational skills development, girls’ education and teacher quality.
Gideon was recently named one of Theirworld Education Innovation Award Winner and JCI Nigeria’s 2021 Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award Winner. He has a Masters’ Degree in International Education and Development from the University of Sussex and was a recipient of the Chevening Scholarship Award.
