Hervé Lado
Africa Head, United Nations Global Compact
 

Dr Hervé Lado is Africa Director for the United Nations Global Compact. An economist specialising in political economy of development, he was Director for West and Central Africa (resident in Dakar) for a New York-based think-tank that supports governments and civil society organisations in responsible management of their mining, oil and gas resources. Before that, Hervé worked, as part of his doctoral research, to evaluate the contribution of oil companies to the sustainable development in Nigeria, and served as environmental and social team leader for a major hydroelectric power station in Cameroon. Prior to that he was an advisor on international business development within the network of French economic diplomacy in Africa. He is a professor of economics, CSR and business ethics and is the author of several publications on the role businesses in sustainable development in Africa.
