Olawale Adebiyi is the CEO of Wecyclers Nigeria, the pioneering plastic collection and recycling company in Nigeria. The Wecyclers model incentivises people in low-income communities to recycle their waste with their proprietary software platform, where households can redeem their incentives per kilogram of waste recycled – via SMS to their cellphones – for cash.
While pursuing his graduate degree, Olawale worked on groundbreaking research and co-authored several patents and publications in the renewable energy field. After studying and working in the United States for 18 years, Olawale moved back to Nigeria to join Wecyclers as the COO followed by becoming the CEO with a focus on streamlining operations and structuring the organisation for rapid growth and success.
He holds a Bachelors and Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology and an MBA from Indiana University’s, Kelly School of Business.
