Peter Scott, a globally recognized leader in the clean cookstove industry, is the Founder & CEO of BURN and the Founder of BURN Design Lab.
In 1990, while travelling through the Democratic Republic of Congo, Peter witnessed the deforestation resulting from charcoal production for household cooking. This experience fueled his dedication to saving forests in Sub-Saharan Africa through the design and manufacture of fuel-efficient cookstoves. Since launching BURN in 2011, Peter has led the company from offering a single product and in one country to providing an expansive product portfolio – across biomass, LPG, and electric cooking solutions – that are available in 20+ countries. BURN is now the largest vertically integrated modern cook stove manufacturer, distributor and carbon project developer in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Peter is considered one of the world’s leading experts in the field, earning recognition as one of the Top 100 Global Thinkers by Foreign Policy Magazine.
