Teresa Njoroge is the Founder & CEO of Clean Start Africa. She founded it after being wrongly imprisoned with her then 3 month old daughter. Her firsthand experience and the plight of women in prison together with their children inspired her to commit her life’s purpose to support hundreds of women leaving prison to successfully reintegrate back into society.
A devoted people leader and a community-centric social entrepreneur, Teresa has passionately been advocating for the rights of children of imprisoned parents, youth and women impacted by the criminal justice system mostly due to the criminalization of poverty. Her drive to bring social change has earned her an advisory role on the board at Mighty Ally, an organization that helps growth-stage nonprofits and social enterprises position their brands.
Teresa is an Inaugural Ford Foundation Global Fellow, a Vital Voices Lead Global Fellow, and the recipient of the African Female Leader 2018 Excellence Award by The Global Thinkers Forum, UK. She has receievd the Head of State Commendation (HSC), in the Presidential Trailblazer award 2022-Republic of Kenya, and is a 2023 Acumen Angel awardee after completing her fellowship with Acumen Academy.
