Prashant is keenly focused on creating social impact in rural and ‘rurban’ India through his startup Care Netram. Care Netrams’s objective is to give access to primary vision care by making it accessible and affordable. Lack of awareness, and the shortage of skilled manpower, results in high cost and poor access to eye care services especially in rural and ‘rurban’ India.
In only four years, Care Netram has been able to impact over 1,00,000 individuals in rural India with free eye checkups and low cost spectacles, and have given employment opportunities by training Good Vision Technicians. Most are selected from rural areas with low per capita income. These trained GVTs are not only aiding their own income, but penetrating eye care in the remotest of locations.
In the coming years, Care Netram aims to increase penetration in rural and Rurban India where access to affordable eye-care is still a challenge through permanent affordable eyewear stores and mobile community outreaches.
