Igazeuma Okoroba is the Group Head of Sustainability of Dangote Cement, where she drives the sustainability strategy, integration of ESG factors and climate action in 10 African countries.
She is a sociologist and sustainability leader with diverse experience in manufacturing, energy, telecommunications, media, and civil society. She represents the African business enterprise jurisdiction as a Board member of the Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB) of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), which is the world’s first globally accepted standards for sustainability reporting.
In her 20-year career, she has authored several corporate governance documents, including seven published annual sustainability reports, policies and procedures in compliance with international standards and industry frameworks. Driving business ethics and compliance has been central to her role as a corporate governance leader and her advocacy for promoting sustainability practices in African business enterprises has earned her recognition and awards.
When not engaged in corporate duties, she promotes active citizenship through the GoFuture Volunteer Network, a non-governmental organisation she founded. She is also a non-fiction writer and author of several publications. She holds a Master’s degree in sustainable development from the University of Exeter, UK, and a PhD in development sociology from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
